NSW: Man attacked with baseball bat in home invasion

SYDNEY, Dec 29 AAP - A man has been attacked in his home with a baseball bat while eight children slept nearby, after two robbers burst into the NSW house.

Police said two robbers forced their way into the North Street, Oberon, home, 120km west of Sydney, about 3am (AEDT) on Sunday.

One of them attacked the man, who owns the home, with a baseball bat before returning with an axe and smashing windows.

Two women were also in the house at the time.

Police later arrested two men a short distance away.

A 45-year-old man from Old Guildford has been charged with aggravated breaking and entering, committing a serious indictable offence (using violence), malicious damage, being armed with intent to commit an indictable offence, and resisting a police officer.

A 51-year-old man from Oberon has been charged with stalking and intimidation.

Both men appeared at Bathurst Local Court on Monday and were bailed to re-appear on January 5.
